Using Arizona ESA funds for myofunctional therapy
Many of the children we see are funded through Arizona's Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) program. If your child is homeschooled or has an IEP, MET, or 504 plan, ESA funds may be used toward orofacial myofunctional therapy. Can ESA funds be used for myofunctional therapy?
Many Arizona ESA families do use their funds toward myofunctional therapy as a therapy or educational-support service. Allowable categories are set by the Arizona Department of Education and can change, so please confirm current guidelines with the ESA program — we are happy to provide any documentation you need.
Do I need an IEP or MET to qualify?
Not necessarily. Arizona's ESA program is open to a wide range of students, including homeschooled children and students with special needs. Your award amount and allowable spending may differ depending on your child's qualifying category.
How do I pay for sessions with ESA funds?
We provide an itemized invoice with service dates, descriptions, and totals that you can submit through your ESA account. Call us to confirm the payment method that works best for your family before your first visit.
Do you see ESA students virtually?
Yes. All therapy sessions are conducted via Telehealth for families anywhere in Arizona, which makes therapy realistic for families in outlying communities. In-home comprehensive exams are available for Phoenix Metropolitan-area families.
